WTA Update: Day three results at US Open


Another day has come and gone at the one and only Flushing Meadows in New York.

No.-2 seed Jelena Jankovic needed three sets to win her second round match on Wednesday. Jankovic defeated Sofia Arviddson by a score of 6-3, 6-7 (7-5) and 7-5. Jankovic had three aces, but nine double faults in the match.

Svetlana Kuznetsova won her second round match on Wednesday, defeating Sorana Cirstea. Kuznetsova won the match 7-6 (7-3) and 6-1.

Elena Dementieva also advanced to the third round after her victory on Wednesday over Pauline Parmentier.

Lindsay Davenport also won her match on Wednesday. Davenport defeated Alisa Kleybanova in straight sets, 7-5 and 6-3, to advance to the third round.

The biggest upset of the day came when no.-8 seeded Vera Zvonareva lost to Tatiana Perebiynis in straight sets. Perebiynis won the match, 6-3 and 6-3.
