The quarterfinals got underway at the US Open on Tuesday. There was no shocking upsets to worry about on Tuesday.
Jelena Jankovic advanced to the semifinals for the second time ever at the US Open. The no.-2 ranked player in the world defeated Sybille Bammer in straight sets 6-1 and 6-4. Bammer had 40 unforced errors in the match, while JJ had only 14.
Elena Dementieva had an easy quarterfinal match as well. Dementieva defeated Patty Schnyder in straight sets 6-2 and 6-3.
