Weekend Review: LPGA results and WNBA scores

Greetings, happy Monday to you all. My first Monday around.

Eun-Hee Ji shot a 5-under 67 to win the Wegmans LPGA event. Ji shot 16-under for all four rounds. Ji defeated Suzann Pettersen by two shots. Pettersen shot even par for the fourth round and wasn't able to capitalize on her 65 and 67 scores from Friday and Saturday.

Jeong Jang and Hee-Won Han tied for third place. Cristie Kerr finished in fifth place after shooting a 3-under par on Sunday, finishing 11-under for the tournament. Lorena Ochoa finished in a tie for sixth place after shooting 3-under on Sunday. Ochoa finished the tournament 9-under par.

WNBA Results

Los Angeles Sparks defeat Indiana Fever, 77-63

It was a horrible shooting night for the Fever. The team shot only 27 percent from the field and only 13 percent from beyond the arch. Tamika Catchings led the Fever with 17 points. Lisa Leslie also put up 17 points and 9 rebounds. Candace Parker had a double-double night, scoring 10 points and grabbing 10 rebounds.

Detroit Shock defeat Atlanta Dream, 97-76- It was a big game for Shock player, Cheryl Ford. Ford finished the game with a double-double, scoring 20 points and 12 rebounds. Ivory Latta put up double-double numbers for the Dream, scoring 26 points and getting 10 assists. More importantly, Atlanta is 0-13. When will they finally win a game?

New York Liberty blow out Phoenix Mercury, 105-72- Tiffany Jackson had a big game off the bench for the Liberty. Jackson scored 21 points on 8-of-8 shooting. Jackson also had 7 rebounds for the game. Mercury forward Diana Taurasi also scored 21 points in the game, including 3-of-7 from beyond the arch. New York is currently tied for third with Indiana and remain three games behind Detroit in the East.

Sacramento Monarchs defeat Chicago Sky, 82-70- The Sky lost their fourth straight game despite a strong game by guard Jia Perkins. Perkins scored a game high, 22 points. The Sky play the Mercury next and need to win if they want to get some momentum going against Detroit this weekend.
