WNBA Recap: Texas shootout in OT, Parker dunks again

What an exciting finish it was in San Antonio! It took five quarters to determine who would be the winner between Houston and San Antonio. In the end though, it took a baseline game-winner by Tina Thompson, with 1.2 seconds left in overtime, for the Comets to defeat the Silver Stars, 82-81.

Thompson scored 16 points, despite fracturing her finger in the first quarter. Center Michelle Snow was the leading scorer for the Comets, putting up 17 points for the night, with 11 rebounds.

Becky Hammon came up strong for the Silver Stars, scoring 25 points on 9-of-18 shooting, including 5-of-8 from beyond the arc.

Minnesota Lynx 91 - New York Liberty 69- Seimone Augustus had a big night for the Lynx, scoring 21 points and falling one rebound shy of a double-double.

Shameka Christon scored 20 points for the Liberty. Ashley Battle scored 17 points off the bench for the Liberty.

The win ends a five game losing streak for the Lynx. Meanwhile, the Lynx now have sole possession of fourth place in the Western Conference.

Los Angeles Sparks 76 - Seattle Storm 62- Well it happened again! For the second straight game, Candace Parker dunked in a WNBA game. Parker is already the all-time dunk leader. Lisa Leslie has one career dunk.

Parker had a great night for the Sparks, scoring 22 points and grabbing 11 rebounds. DeLisha Milton-Jones scored 19 points for the Sparks. Sue Bird scored 11 points and Lauren Jackson scored 10 for the Storm.

Indiana Fever 78 - Sacramento Monarchs 73- With Tamika Catchings having a quiet night on the floor, center Ebony Hoffman came up big for the Fever, scoring 23 points and grabbing 13 rebounds off the glass. Guard Ticha Penicheiro led the Monarchs with 15 points.

The win for the Fever snaps a two game losing streak.

More good news came for Catchings as she was named the first recipient of the Dawn Staley Community Leadership Award.

Phoenix Mercury 98 - Washington Mystics 90- Diana Taurasi had a huge night for the Mercury, scoring 31 points, including 4-of-5 from beyond the three point line. Cappie Pondexter also put 28 points for the Mercury. Taj McWilliams-Franklin scored 31 points for the Mystics.

That's all I have for now.
